The source of this saree is related with holy person Markanda, who is accepted to be the ace weaver of the Gods. He had woven tissues from lotus fiber. The fundamental weavers of Kanjivaram Silk are known as Kanchis who are the relatives of sage Markanda. Another chronicled reality says that the acclaimed lord Krishna-Deva Raya of the Chola administration governed Kanjivaram between the years 985 and 1015. He was the one to take a functioning activity for silk exchanging and the two celebrated weaving networks, the Devangas and the Saligars went to the city of Kanchipuram. In the seventeenth century because of the French attack, this exchange was incidentally stopped.
